Sexual Images in Media

Pain as pleasurable:
Comparing the woman to an elephant yet displaying her with a sensual look in her eye in a submissive position.

Male domination over women as natural and sexy:
The male is over the women and holding her down, it is suppose to be an advert for jeans however the jeans clearly are not being advertised and this scene is suppose to be depicted as sexy when really its just showing male dominance.

Women would sell sex whenever they could:
"She loves to mix pleasure with play".  This is depicting a women laying on her back very compliant and yielding towards the camera.

As a women it disgusts me to see women depicted like this in media.  Women, not only women but men as well are over sexualized in media and this gives a bad message to people watching the media and reflects on their thoughts.  For example, children growing up seeing this media will believe that women are solely sexual objects and should not be treated as actual people.  Which is far from the truth.  So no, I believe this is highly inappropriate, i'm aware that sex sells but I don't think everything or anything needs to be over sexualized in order to make profit from it.

Media Ownership and Consolidation

It is shocking just how entirely unsafe the internet actually is, did you know that you can buy credit card numbers online for $1 apiece as well as buy identities via internet chatting sites. The internet is full of unsafe terrifying things, you can hire a hit man, buy drugs and basically get away with literally murder if you know the right or in this case wrong places to look. If you're scared about your personal information that is currently floating through the internet, that's good, because you should be. Many websites like OpenMedia.ca focus on safety through privacy for internet users which is very important. However, in the vastness that is the internet how could you ever possibly be safe? There are many websites on the internet dedicated to anonymity. In fact, these websites are where the shadiest internet things happen. In order to gain anonymity completely you must download a certain internet browser and through this browser you can access websites which support illegal activity. This was shocking to me because you can literally order a hit on someone using bitcoins. Which is a peer to peer technology that operates with no central authority or banks. Mining for bitcoins is an extensive process on its own which requires extensive knowledge of computers, or at least having a computer that can stand all the downloads. This is not something I have much knowledge on, it simply shocks me to know it exists at all or that any of the dark things on the internet are possible. Consent of the Networked is a book written by Rebecca MacKinnon, it is based on facts from the United States but however can still pertains to everyone because it highlights key points such as the desire for security, yet still gaining entertainment from the internet. She also highlights how the government cares more about copyright than the privacy and safety of it's own people.

The Key Roles of Mass Media

The following link is an Article on the recent Churchill shooting;

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/chapel-hill-shooting-three-young-muslims-gunned-down-in-north-carolina-at-their-family-home-10037734.html I believe this article shows important information on a global level, it informs readers of a devastating event that is recent and isn't getting much media coverage because it is very controversial. The article in slightly biased towards the white man who did the shooting, and they say that it was a parking dispute. However they also include information about the support web pages as well. This is the most unbiased article I have read on it so far besides videos. News broadcasts in the states have barely touched this subject and if they do, they almost blame the victims for the event occuring in the first place. I think this is mass media because everyone should know about what events are currently happening in the world, even if they are terrifying and awful.
